Informatics synergies

Informatics is the science of information, information processing, and the study of structures, algorithms, behavior, and interactions of natural and artificial systems that store, process, access and communicate information. The science of informatics thus overlaps a wide range of disciplines.

Informatics Vision and Mission:

  • To leverage the use of Data from High-Throughput Screening Assays, Next Generation Sequencing , High-Performance Computational Simulations and In Silico Screening in the fields of Cheminformatics, Bioinformatics and Materials Informatics.
  • To seed and catalyze the application of Informatics in the area of Materials Science (the “Materials Genome”) to expedite innovations in the development of new materials.
  • To explore state of the art algorithms in Machine Learning, Informatics, Statistical and Network Analysis with applications to Cheminformatics and Bioinformatics.
  • To further the university’s mission by strengthening inter-disciplinary learning and research, facilitating the development of tools for Informatics research and fostering closer university-industry collaborations.
